How Astigmatism Affects Your Vision
Astigmatism is a common vision problem. The good news is that it can be corrected with toric soft contacts instead of glasses.

In the normal eye, the cornea (the clear lens in the front of the eye) is round, like a soccer ball, allowing light rays to focus evenly on the retina at the back of the eye. In the astigmatic eye, the cornea is oval, like an egg, preventing light from correctly focusing on the retina.

Applying Your Contact Lenses*
Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly.
To avoid getting your lenses mixed up, always apply (or remove) your lenses, one at a time, in the same order.
For example, remove your LEFT lens from the storage case and ALWAYS work from left to right.
Rinse your lens with solution to remove any trace of debris. If you use 1•DAY ACUVUE®, you can take your fresh, new lens right out of the package – no solution is needed.

Place the lens on the tip of your index finger.
Using your other hand, hold your upper lid to reduce blinking.
Pull down your lower eyelid, using your applying hand.
Look up at the ceiling and place the lens gently on the lower white part of your eye.
Slowly release your eyelid and close your eye for a moment.
Blink several times to center the lens on your eye.
If your lens feels uncomfortable, remove it and inspect if for damage. If it’s damaged, discard it.
Otherwise, rinse with moresolution and reapply.
Apply your right lens following the same procedure.

Removing Your Contact Lenses*
Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly.
Start with your LEFT lens. ALWAYS work from left to right.
Look up at the ceiling and pull down your lower eyelid.
Bring your index finger close to your eye until you touch the lower edge of the lens.
Slide the lens down to the lower white part of your eye.

Wear and Replace Your Lenses on Schedule

When you first receive your contact lenses, your eye care professional will tell you how long you can wear them, and how often they have to be replaced. Replacing your lenses on schedule is extremely important – compliance is intended to keep your eyes comfortable and healthy. Maintaining a proper replacement schedule will help you keep your eyes comfortable and healthy.

Generally, ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses are recommended to be worn and replaced on one of three replacement schedules:
      Daily wear lenses are removed at the end of every day. They are cleaned and disinfected daily, and are replaced
      with a fresh pair about every two weeks.
      Continuous wear lenses remain in the eyes, even while sleeping, for up to six nights. They are discarded and
      replaced with a fresh pair every week.
      Daily disposable lenses can be worn for one day. They are thrown away and replaced with a fresh, new pair every day.

Basics for Healthy, Comfortable Eyes

If you wear makeup, you may need to make a few simples adjustments to your routine to make sure your makeup and lenses look great together.

Looking your best – whether you’re caring for your eyes, skin or even your hair – usually comes down to the basics: keep it clean and use common sense. But there are also some tricks you may not have considered:

DO:
Apply your lenses before you apply makeup.
Wash your hands thoroughly before you apply your lenses. (Even moisturizer or sunscreen can cause stinging or other problems, so wash up!)
Apply eye shadow and liner gently, so you don’t jostle or damage your lenses.
Use oil-free and fragrance-free eye makeup.
Use water-resistant mascara and eyeliner to prevent flaking and smudging.
Replace mascara every month.
Replace eyeliner every three months.
Replace eye shadows every six months.
Call your eye care professional if you have any redness, pain, swelling or irritation.
Remove your lenses before you remove your eye make-up.
Remove all eye makeup every day. Use a hypoallergenic remover, preferably oil-free.

DON’T:
Don’t wear makeup (or apply your lenses) if your eyes are swollen, red or infected.
Don’t share makeup.
Don’t share contact lenses.
Don’t use saliva to apply shadow, thin liquid eyeliner or to try to get another use out of old mascara.
Don’t apply eyeliner to your inner lid (inside the lashes).
Don’t apply mascara at the base of your lashes. Start from the midpoint and extend to the tips.
Don’t use mascara with “lash-building fibers.” Fibers can damage your lenses.
Don’t wear false eyelashes.
Don’t expose your makeup to heating or freezing. (When flying, keep your makeup in your carry-on bag, not with your checked luggage.)
Don’t wear your lenses when you go to the hair salon. Even “second-hand” spray and fumes can damage your lenses.
Don’t wear your lenses while you color or perm your hair.
Don’t use aerosols (hairspray, etc.) with your eyes open.
